Graham Thomas - Rhythm Guitar

Graham’s first step into public music was singing the solo in “Once in Royal David’s City” on “The Service of 9 Lessons & Carols” on the BBC when he was 11 (the precocious little git!). As his trousers grew longer & his voice grew lower, he started playing guitar & singing with various bands in the Medway Towns, but after declining the opportunity of going fully professional with “Vanity Fare”, he joined the RAF and took up traditional folk music, just as Folk-Rock was undergoing its birth pangs.

In the RAF he flew with Ian Cowie, (lead guitar with The Cougars whose “Saturday Night At The Duckpond” features on the “Very Best of Air Guitar Vol 2 CD), & they still play 60s & 70s rock together 3 or 4 times a year. Graham co-wrote & sang the first track on Ian’s album, “Pendulum” which was released in 2002. However, it was in the folk-rock world that Graham achieved most success, first with Vulcan’s Hammer, & then Eynesbury Giant. Both bands made successful albums, & appeared on BBC radio & TV, Vulcan’s Hammer having a whole 1-hour programme dedicated to one of their concerts on BBC Radio 2’s “Folkweave”.

Graham still keeps in touch with his folk roots, playing concertina and singing with The Kennet Morris Men, and playing lead guitar with The Kennet Ceilidh Band.

However, things have now come full circle, as since early 2003, Graham has been primarily playing rock again, initially with “Listen With Mother”, until they broke up in July 2006, and now “Stone Gecko”. He is famous for tripping everyone up with the TWO leads that emanate from his Godin, and dazzling the punters with the reflections from the top of his head!
